As America braces for the 2024 election, an election which Donald Trump has branded “Donald Trump and the final battle”, the media faces its ultimate test. How should it cover a man who made more than 30,000 false or misleading claims during his four years in the White House, this according to a Washington Post count, and whose “big lie” spurred a mob of his supporters to assail the US Capitol on 6 January 2021?
Well, no matter what you feel about our Donald, you cannot deny that Trump is back, yes he is back even after one criminal indictment coupled with two very public impeachments, he is still the present favourite for the Republican Party nomination.
It is also worth saying that the Republican Party is fully aware that Trump, during his electoral campaign, will continue to wind people up as is his style and in doing so will receive all the free publicity he wants even while playing at his favorite golf course.
No one should not have forgotten the 2016 electoral campaign where Mr. Trump, just as many other politicians did promise so much, has not stopped most of the reporting media to adding much legitimacy to him even while knowing that he will thankfully carry this new-found idealization, all the way to the White House.
In ending: The old saying goes there is no such thing as bad publicity, all publicity is good, no matter what or where it comes from, and our blonde-haired Donald Trump knows that only too well, just look back to his 2016 campaign where he is said to have acquired at least $5bn in free advertising, its no wonder his opponents are so scared of him.
I personally look forward to the next American election, it will make fine viewing.
