Governor Andrew Cuomo the New York State Governor has announced a one-mile (1.6km) coronavirus "containment zone" just north of the big apple
The containment zone, set up around New Rochelle, a community which has seen the largest cluster of the coronavirus within the US in recent days
National Guard troops have also be tasked with cleaning schools and deliver food to any quarantined individuals living within the "containment zone."
Speaking to a packed room, Mr Cuomo announced that New York state has as of today, the 10th March 2020, 173 active coronavirus cases, the most significant number in the United States.
Of these instances, 108 are in Westchester County, where the community of New Rochelle which is itself located approximately 25 miles (ca. 40 km) (40km south of New York. City, the containment zone will hold almost eight million people the population of New Rochelle
Winding up his report, the New York State Governor said there would be no travel restrictions in the small city at this time, but significant meeting points in the area will all be classed as no go zones and will be closed for the foreseeable future.
